All art is a kind of exploring, to discover and reveal. Every new project means learning to see all over again.
I’m currently working on a new project, ‘African Landscapes’ which explores the importance of African wilderness and its wildlife, and the delicate balance that exists between humans, wildlife and landscape.
My experience with the Ju/’hoansi Bushmen over a period of 25 years, brings a realisation of the bond that exists between humans and nature, and that the Bushmen lived not outside the realm of nature, but as part of nature. In my experience their relationship with animals were at times mysterious, defying logic, where each plant and each animal has its own being, its own life and purpose, which the Ju/‘hoansi Bushmen are a part of.
It is this inherited love of the wilderness that inspires me.
